Lamp Selection:
How to select a lamp by room size, décor, mood, etc.

  1. Functionality - An important question to ask yourself what you are using the room for. Do you use the room solely for one function or does it ever get used for a different activity? For example, if you have a living room, which you seldom entertain in and is mostly for aesthetics, you will not need a lot of light in that room. You can base your lamp decision on the continuity between the lamp and room.
  2. Balance - This idea is very simple. If you have a small room, you want a small lamp.
  3. Feel - Sometimes a lamp can be the right size for the room and serve the appropriate function but it just does not "feel" right. You have to make this judgment call.
  4. Style - there are hundreds of unique styles of lamps. Round ones, square ones, wrought iron, antique, European, Asian… you get the idea! You should choose the lamp style that blends in best with your overall design scheme of the room. If you can't seem to find a lamp that meets your style requirements then get creative and find something that can be made into a lamp to fit your design and style needs. Style is our forte.
